Top Three Reasons to Visit Lake Lewisville
In north Texas there is a man made freshwater lake known as Lake Lewisville. This lake is located on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River near the town of Lewisville. The lake was originally built for flood control and to be a water source for Dallas and surrounding suburbs. However, today it is primarily used for boating and watercraft recreational activities.

In 1945 the United States Congress passed the River and Harbor Act, which called for more construction in the Trinity River basin. This is when construction was started on the Lewisville Dam. At 33,000 feet long this dam was finished in 1955 at a cost of twenty-one million. At this time the Garza Dam holding back Lake Dallas was breached to create the new lake that would have one hundred eighty-three miles of shoreline and 436,000 acres of capacity. The lake was officially called Lewisville Lake in the mid-1970s.

http://astore.amazon.com/retirementplaces-20

This lake becomes extremely crowded during the summer months since it is the large population centers of Dallas and Forth Worth. The most popular activity in this lake is hunting of water fowl, hunting feral hogs and fishing. The types of fish caught in this lake include large mouth bass, white bass, white crappie, hybrid and striped bass and blue and channel catfish. The most fishing activity on the lake is seen in white crappie and white bass.

The low level of this lake makes it an excellent option to spend a lazy summer day floating around in a canoe or kayak and watching the wonderful sights. There are many native wildlife species you can observe.

Swimming and nightlife are the two biggest attractions to this lake. During spring and summer breaks many people travel to this lake to hang out on the shoreline and enjoy the murky waters.

However, this lake is not recommended for watercraft or sports since it typically has very low visibility, usually only two to three feet. For several years Lake Lewisville was actually ranked as one of the most dangerous lakes in Texas because of the accidents and fatalities that were occurring. The reason for these accidents is because of the shallow areas and water hazards that can be found.

This doesn’t mean you can enjoy boating on Lake Lewisville. It simply means that high-speed activities should be avoided on this lake. You also need to pay specific attention to your charts and follow markers carefully. There are three major boat ramps that provide easy access to the water. Just remember to take it slow and obey the laws so you can avoid accidents in the lake.

Even if all the hazards are marked on your chart or through visible markers this doesn’t mean that new tree stumps haven’t been uncovered. So be careful when navigating a boat through these waters and you will be fine. The lake is ideal for those who want a relaxing and slow trip around a lake, but not for those who are expecting to experience the faster paced activities of water sports.

If you are going to San Francisco

One of the most vibrant and picturesque cities in the United States, San Francisco attracts a lot of tourists every year. San Francisco offers a significant number of cultural attractions and world famous landmarks, all in the surroundings of impressive natural beauty.

The first settlement here was built in the end of the XVI century by the Spanish conquers and received its name in honor of Saint Francisc.

http://astore.amazon.com/californiamoves-20

Now San Francisco is called the pearl of the Western Coast. It’s a unique mix of the old architecture (of the Victorian period) and the modern buildings. The city lies on the hills surrounding the ocean. San Francisco is on of the most poetic cites in the United States, the city of bohemia with its special fleur and atmosphere. The city has its nickname – Frisco.

San Francisco is known for its wonderful food, intensive nightlife and its glorious views. Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world-known symbols of San Francisco and the view of the sunset is the best here. The bridge is 210m high.

Every month of the year there is something interesting happening in San Francisco – festivals and different cultural events are carried out throughout the year. As for climate and weather, of course, summer months are the best choice for visiting this city, but you won’t mistake if you choose another season for traveling. San Francisco isn’t a cold city anyway. The closest in time events – Holiday Festival: Great Dickens Christmas Fair, Celebration of Craftswomen, Holiday Festival of Lights, Marin Art and Garden Center and Macy’s Union Square Tree Lighting Ceremony. All they take place in December.

So, what else is worth to see in San Francisco?

Except the above-mentioned Golden Gate Bridge another world famous symbol of the city is Alcatraz. It’s the rock with the former prison, which can be called the best-known prison on earth. This prison is situated on an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay. Now it’s a museum exhibiting objects made by notorious inmates, historic photographs and documents, escape materials and inmate artwork; items used by officers including correctional materials when Alcatraz was a federal penitentiary from 1934-1963; military prison period materials from 1859-1934; and the American Indian occupation of 1969 -1971.
Aquarium of the Bay is also a very interesting place for visit in San Francisco. It was opened in 1996. Now it’s a unique educational and entertainment facility dedicated to the rich and diverse aquatic life of the San Francisco Bay and its surrounding waters.

One of San Francisco’s main retail and cultural centers is Union Square. Set aside as a park in 1850 and named before the start of the Civil War as a tribute to the frequent demonstrations in support of the Union troop, the park got a major renovation and restoration in 2002.

Another sightseeing in San Francisco is Coit Tower. It’s 210ft (60m) high and crowns the top of Telegraph Hill. The tower was built as a monument to the firefighters of San Francisco.

To confirm the reputation of the intellectual city it’s enough to name Berkeley – one of the most prestigious Universities of USA is located near San Francisco.
So, there is enough to see and to take part in San Francisco – just don’t miss it!

Pennsylvania is not somewhere that you would expect to find wine or wine tours for that matter if you do not know that much about wine in the first place. The majority of people that drink wine only think of wine centres as places like California, Australia, France, Italy and so on. Pennsylvania wine tours would not even enter their conscious. However, Pennsylvania wine tours have a unique and distinctive history that should be explored to its fullest extent. Pennsylvania wine began to filter into the common market when the Farm Winery Act was passed in 1978, but it has been made there since the 1600s. Pennsylvania is in fact the first place in the United States that began to process grapes for wine and should be treated with reverence. You should take one of the many Pennsylvania wine tours at least once in your life!

http://astore.amazon.com/writingwords-20

The first commercial vineyard in Pennsylvania was established in 1793, although it was not until much later that Pennsylvania wine tours actually came about. The wine producers were initially beset with a variety of problems. Everything from crop failure to grape varieties not taking to the earth properly. As a result, the wine industry of the 1800s was more or less defunct with no hope of revival. There were still some growers determined to make a go of it though, and a good job too because Pennsylvania wine tours would not be a part of the modern day culture otherwise.

Pennsylvania wine tours actually became pretty much established in the mid 1800s. They actually came about when an absolute genius decided to try the landscape of the lakes for wine growing. The vineyards around Lake Eerie were planted in the mid 19th Century after the Eerie canal was built for irrigation purposes and Pennsylvania has never looked back. The first winery in the region, which is now a staple part of Pennsylvania wine tours, was the South Shore Wine Cellar. As the region is now conservative in nature and does not really produce wine to the extent that it did some years ago, it is generally off limits to the Pennsylvania wine tours. You can however see the region from the comfort of a car or a bus.

It has only been in the last thirty years or so, since 1978, that wine production in Pennsylvania has begun to flourish. It is only since the early 1980s that Pennsylvania wine tours have been established and have risen dramatically in popularity ever since. The weather and general environment of the region lends itself to great production of grapes and thus also of wine. The growth of the industry has been magnificent since then and over 90 wineries are now included in the Pennsylvania wine tours for you to look round and fully appreciate just how much it has all grown in the last few years. Indeed, some of the wineries actually produce fruit wines unheard of in other wineries across the country. This will definitely enhance your experience of the Pennsylvania wine tours For more info see http://www.bestwinetourguide.com/ on Best Wine.

Pennsylvania wine tours can show you a top ten wine-producing region in the United States. You can find a huge variety of wine types in Pennsylvania and try the various types as a part of Pennsylvania wine tours. Whatever wine you are looking for, the likelihood is that you will find it here. Pennsylvania wine tours will give you a new and unique experience so be sure to book on one as soon as you can!

Delaware was the first state to be recognized in the United States. Today Delaware is primarily known for their attractive small cities and towns with friendly individuals and a peaceful attraction. The capital of Delaware is Dover which features the historic square known simply as the Green. When you go here you can see a number of the homes that were built in the eighteenth century with many of them still being in original condition. Within walking distance of this square there is the Johnson Victrola Museum with an excellent collection of phonographs and the Biggs Museum of American Art which has art going back two hundred years for display.

http://astore.amazon.com/learntosail-20

The other main city in Delaware is Wilmington which was originally started by the Quakers as a shopping and market center. Today Wilmington has a very historical importance where there are many wonderful museums including the Hagley Museum which is based out of a mansion originally built in the eighteen hundreds. In addition Wilmington offers the Brandywine Zoo for those who prefer animal attractions.

In Delaware there are many quaint B&Bs to choose from when you are traveling. However, the top two are the Hotel du Pont and the Inn at Montchanin Village. The Hotel du Pont in Wilmington features luxury surroundings, excellent amenities and some of the best restaurants you can find in Wilmington. The other option is the Inn at Montchanin Village which is located in Montchanin, Delaware. The inn is actually made up of a cluster of buildings that used to be homes for the workers in the DuPont powder mills. Now remodeled, these buildings acts as guest rooms and suites with beautiful gardens all around the property.

However, you can never travel to Delaware without enjoying the excellent views of the ocean. One excellent place to visit is the Eye of Water which is located in Brandywine Valley, Delaware which is actually very close to Wilmington. This features the Longwood Garden which has circulating water for a fifty foot waterfall. The place actually sits on top of over ninety thousand gallons of water, but you never know it when you stand inside the pavilion.

Another excellent option is the Delaware Coast Watchtowers. Not only can you have an excellent view of the ocean but you will also get to enjoy a bit of history as well. This site features several tall towers that once acted as sentry towers during World War II. Soldiers would man these towers for twenty-four hours a day to keep a lookout for any German ships and submarines. The towers still remain and offer an excellent chance to learn a little history while driving along the scenic coast of Delaware and enjoying the beautiful ocean scenes.

Do you want to see a side of Maui like never before? Check out the beautiful island of Maui from a different view- underwater! There are many places in Maui where you can go scuba diving even if you have never been before. You can go on a guided tour, learn from an instructor or rent equipment if you don’t have your own. Below is more information about snorkeling and scuba diving in Maui.

Diving Trips

There are many different diving trips for you to choose from if you are staying in Maui. Many places offer small group SCUBA trips to at least two different destinations on each day of the week. Set out with other divers on a fully-equipped dive boat and enjoy comfortable seating and amenities (such as a bathroom) while you travel to your dive location.

There are knowledgeable crew members and diving instructors that can help you no matter what your level of experience and most dives are very affordable. If you are concerned with price, you might also look into package deals to save you money or go with a group.

There are also many specialty diving opportunities such as diving in caves or caverns. There are special excursions you can take with a professional tour guide to show you sights you probably never dreamed of before.

If you are a novice diver or if you are in a party with snorkelers, then you might want to take a different boat trip or tank dive trip. You will have to contact facilities that offer these to find out all the details. There are also many introductory dives and diving courses for you if you are new to the underwater world.

Snorkeling Trips

In addition to scuba diving, you might want to try snorkeling. There are many places that let you view gorgeous coral reefs and much more as well as the many exotic underwater living creatures of the Hawaiian Islands. Set out on a boat with many other snorkelers whether it’s your first time or you’ve been doing it forever. Head out to a nice snorkeling location such as a coral reef and friendly, knowledgeable crew will help you even if you have never done this before. There are “boogie boards” available to help you while moving through the water.

Even if you have been snorkeling before, you have likely never seen it like it is in Maui so it is well worth the time to go for at least one day and check it out. Snorkeling costs a day per person varies so you will have to call actual facilities since prices are subject to change. There are also group deals and discounts that you may be eligible for as well if you call and check into it.

Diving Courses

If you don’t know how to dive, you might want to look into getting some instructions first before you set out to go on a dive with people that know what they are doing. There are also many places that offer diving courses for those of you that may not have even been diving before. You can take classes on all the details of diving as well as go out on a boat with an instructor that will show you exactly how to do everything properly and safely.

If you are looking to find out exact pricing and diving schedules for different resorts and facilities, you will have to call them to find out all of the details. Equipment rentals can vary in pricing according to exactly what you need and what company you go through so you have to call to find out for sure. There are some places in Maui that offer trips and equipment that have their information available online and this may make it easier for you to plan ahead for your trip and find which location you want to use.

If you are going to be in Maui for vacation, you really need to take at least one day to go scuba diving or snorkeling and see the amazing underwater world in person for yourself. You might even want to take along an underwater camera to remember your adventure.

You can check into pricing, dive days and times as well as what certifications they have and what comes in their deals to help choose the one that suits your needs the best.

Colorado Springs and it’s surrounding area has so much to offer and of course the beauty of the mountains makes you want to visit again and again. There is something about just being in the mountains that is relaxing and peaceful. You will never get tired of the beauty of the mountains, go to the Rockies as there is always something new to see or do.

If you have never been to Colorado Springs here is a little about what the area has to offer.

There is Royal Gorge, offering views that are breathtaking and awe inspiring. You can walk or drive across the bridge, take a tram down to the river, and even tour the area by rail. A definite must see if you are in the area.

After that you will want to experience Pikes Peak Highway, it is truly one of the most beautiful areas of the Rockies. You may see dear, marmots, elk, big horn sheep, and there is always the chipmunks. Be sure to take items to snack on and maybe a picnic lunch because you are sure to stay longer than you thought. Have some quarters available as when you get to the top use their binoculars or better yet bring your own to enjoy all through your trip. You can even take the cog railway to the top if you prefer instead of driving.

If you want to experience some rafting Echo Canyon is the place to go. If you want the milder family version they have that available and for thrill seeking raft the Royal Gorge.

Manitou Springs is noted for their carbonated mineral drinking springs. You will find wonderful shopping in many specialty shops and boutiques. For you chocolate lovers the fudge is fantastic.

If you enjoy waterfalls then Seven Falls should be on your trek. You can climb quite high to see the falls, or take the mountain elevator if you want. You can feed peanuts to the chipmunks which is a lot of fun for everyone. Give yourself plenty time to really enjoy the area and consider staying there through sunset and enjoy all the colorful lights. The falls are beautiful with lights in the evening.

Don’t forget the North Pole and Santa’s Workshop if you have young ones. Besides Santa, there is a petting zoo, amusement rides, magic shows, and many fun things there, a magical fun place for the whole family.

Stop at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo which is awesome. Bring your walking shoes as the zoo is in the mountains so there are some hills to climb, but the walking is worth it.

Other places to visit would be the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, if you go in the summer you could watch live Pueblo Indian dances. For some family fun visit Buckskin Joe Frontier Town and Railway. You can ride a train and watch spectacular scenery while enjoying the wild west action it has to offer.

There is the sprawling Garden of the Gods park, where you can find wonderful art exhibits representing the culture and history of the area. And there is Cave of the Winds among the many tours available in the Colorado Springs area.

From the plane to the shuttle bus to the subway, gotta love Boston Logan airport. You are downtown in a few minutes, for about two bucks. This town is a public transportation paradise. The harbor is hopping with ferries going to Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Salem, Cape Cod. A small ferry takes you on a ten minute ride to the East Boston docks, next to the USS Constitution, better known as Old Ironsides. You have to go through a metal detector before boarding this majestic old ship. Right beside it is a naval history museum. Beware that the subway is packed, standing room only, quite often. The same subway that goes to the airport continues to Revere Beach, a beautiful cove surrounded by bluffs overlooking the sea. It’s home to many senior citizens. The subway hops out of the ground and becomes a train before it gets there, the end of the rail line. Beware crossing Massachussets Avenue, a beehive of activity with many shops and restaurants.

http://astore.amazon.com/bostonvacation-20

The Christian Science Center is here, with an imposing cathedral and long rectangular pool with concrete benches. A great place to relax and reflect on the meaning of life. The Public Garden and Boston Common, which dates back to the 1600′s are also places of peaceful natural splendor frequented by many. On the east side of Boston Common, guides in colonial attire will take you on walking tours along the Freedom Trail. Lots of history here. The Esplanade runs along the Charles river for miles, into Back Bay, it’s a strip of parkland dotted with picnic benches overlooking the downtown skyline. The Boating Center is there, with over a hundred sailboats for members. MIT has it’s own sailing center across the river. Also popular are the Duck Boat tours. This amphibious ex-military vehicle carries about twenty passengers, and pick up at Science Museum parking lot. There is so much to see in Boston. A great city.

-

Doing what you love and getting paid for it
– does this sound interesting to you?

Maybe if you’re thinking about a career change you should think
about heading to Alaska to be a float plane pilot or a bush pilot.

At the very least it’s an excellent summer vacation idea if you
can’t manage the career change right now. These pilots live lives
that most of us will only dream of. Think of it this way, if you have
to justify the change to your significant other: when it’s really hot
and humid where you live during the summer you are pretty much
guaranteed relief from the heat in the form of lower temperatures
if you’re in Alaska!

http://astore.amazon.com/scenicphotograph-20

Fast forward to what your life would be like in the winter. Imagine
the adrenaline rush of flying over a glacier and then landing on an
icy lake with skis on your plane. No brakes here…all you’ve got is
your wits and some luck!

Are you looking for some more “subtle” adventure? You could fly
charter flights the rest of the year into the wilderness and drop people
off for a day of fishing, hiking, nature-watching or the like and then
head back at the end of the day to pick them up and take them back
to civilization. Talk about the ideal job for a pilot!

There are thousands of lakes in Alaska that you can land on, or if you
prefer you can put your tundra tires to work and find a flat spot to land
in the wilderness. Bust out “The Claw” and leave your plane to go do
some exploring of your own! The cool thing about this particular tiedow
is that it’s not only super-portable but the more your plane pulls on it
the deeper it pulls into the ground, keeping it safe from those renegade
tornadoes that keep threatening to swoop your little investment away!

There is some sort of fancy mathematical equation for how “The Claw”
works, and if you want to work it out you can go right ahead. For the rest
of us trust me, this contraption is very cool. It’s easy to take with
you because it breaks down and even has its own storage bag.

However, there are always two sides to every story…living in Alaska
means that you probably aren’t going to see most of your family as
often as you’d like and every day in your plane isn’t necessarily going
to be idyllic.

If you have a job flying you are going to have to be out
in all sorts of weather; much of it as far from ideal conditions
as you can imagine. You’ll have to have a lot of training and
experience as well as the guts to keep going when you know that
you really shouldn’t. Not to mention that when you turn a hobby
into a job you run the risk of losing the excitement and reward
that you get out of it.

Things that you will need for your trip:

1. Plane

2. Maps

3. Tiedown

4. Willing victim to tag along

5. Warm clothes

6. Camera

7. Floats weather-permitting)

8. Skis (weather-permitting)

9. A guide who knows where the best places are to check out

Overall, the idea of spending time in Alaska with your family,
(or just alone with your plane if you’re that type of person) can
be a reality for most anybody. All it takes is some research, a
little bit of planning, and before you know it you’re off on an adventure
that will be well worth writing home about!

White-water rafting and kayaking: They define Colorado adventure,

helping forge friendships with roaring action excitement
Thanks to the winter snow, Colorado’s 13 river systems are in
tiptop shape for the state’s white-water season.

Water lovers keep coming back each season for more surprises.
From families seeking mellow float trips to experienced
death-defying thrill-seekers, people from all walks of life flex
their paddle power on Colorado’s rivers.

Flows are expected to be at their best across the state from
mid-May to the end of June. Early season in April is the perfect
time to catch the wildest white-water and beat the crowds.
Early season is the best time for great discount deals.

Toward the end of the season in July and August is when
smoother waters prevail, making it perfect for float trips.

To experience a white-water adventure in Colorado, trek to the
high country for an overnight trip, or take a day trip as part of
a camping adventure to the mountains. Alternatively, gather a
troop of weekend warriors and cash in on group discounts offered
by most outfitters throughout the season.

Get ready for the ride of your life. Colorado river guides know
the rapids like the back of their hands and will make you laugh,
cook for you and educate you on some of the flora and fauna
indigenous to the area. Most river outfitters provide all of the
gear you’ll need. They are professional leaders and safety
experts as well, so even if you are not a pro on the rapids, you
can rest assured that someone is watching your back.

Six Flags Theme Parks are located throughout the United States and they offer some of the best family entertainment to be had! Whether you are interested in a water park, an animal park, or an exhilarating ride; with so many theme parks to choose from you are sure to find the thrill of a lifetime!

Why don’t we start by saddling up and heading out to the wild west in Frontier City, Oklahoma with more than 50 nail biting rides and plenty of other attractions to keep you amused for hours.

San Francisco Six Flags has the most rides and attractions in California as well as an oceanarium and wildlife park. So whether you want to talk with the animals, enjoy the underwater world, or have a thrill of a lifetime ride it’s here! Oh wait, this is also the home of Medusa, the most extreme roller coaster ever!

Six Flags Over Georgia has unleashed Goliath, which covers more than 8.5 acres and towers more than 200 feet above the ground. Goliath is the roller coaster that is going to be the ultimate in rides! It covers 4,400 feet in less than 3 minutes, reaching speeds of 70mph as well as dwarfing everything else around it.

Of course there are still all your other favorite rides at Six Flags Over Georgia like Ultimate Flight, Skull Island, Superman, and Mindbender. But if you really want to go out on a limb, come ride Goliath!

Six Flags Theme Parks are located throughout the United States. There is also a park on Canada and one in Mexico. If you’re tired of the same old boring vacation, perhaps it’s time to turn up the heat and check out what the theme parks have to offer!
